Masters Pool sits at $900 with a 4.8 pounder leading the way. You have to be in it to win it.
Tuesday Magic Hour
We saw some short action and Mike from Sayreville won the pool.
Wednesday Am
1st drift excellent short action and a few keeps hit the deck. We run back and try to repeat the drift and we have no drift, dispite being three hours away from low water and hardly any wind. We bounce around the rest of the day finding some more keepers and bettter short action later when we found some current. Pool Winner Chris Shukis Edison.
Sailing Thursday 8/5 Magic Hours - Chartered Friday 8/5 AM
Hello Folks - Sorry I havent posted lately, I promise to be more diligent with reports. The Masters pool is $900 with a 4.8 pound fish leading(VERY BEATABLE). Don't be the guy who lands the big one, several fish have been landed over six pounds but they were not in the pool. Night fishing has been on the slow side with only a few keepers landed each night and the short bite has also been on the slow. Most day trips see a handful of keepers with a better short action. Praying for improverment. Sailing Open Wednesday 8/4 and Chartered Friday 8/6. Thinking about running Monday Madness trip. 6:30 to 4:30. $100 fare, mandatory $20 pool first 25 to sign up. Magic Hours TUE -WED -THUR -5 to 9PM, Sat and Sun 4 to 8PM. Last Week of Tuesday Nights.
Wednesday PM
Friday 7/30 Roy with a pair and the pool 3.4 pounds. Cathy, Dave and Bob with one for the plate.
South Plainfield Elks Mary Beth with the pool 2.9 pounds.
Giordano Charter Pool winner 6.3, runner up 5.4. - Fished in the ocean all day on the rough stuff.
Monday Cathy Melillo with a pair and the pool. We had a light crowd and beat the grounds in the back - managed 6 for the cooler and some short action.
Ok where should I start. Weather was nice, cool bay breeze very comfortable night on the water. Fishing conditions get a thumbs down, wind against the tide pretty much the entire night and a change of tide at the end of the trip forced us to power drift the enitre evening. We had some short action close to home but we made a few drops looking for a drift. Cant explain this but the Martin family had all three keepers aboard. Fishing Sat and Sun 4PM to 8PM Magic Hours. Monday and Wednesdy Open Boat 7AM.
Good Afternoon, we sailed with a light crowd today and had great short action catching well over 60 shorts, too bad it was 15 shorts to 1 k ratio. The last drift was good however, the storm killed it. I would of liked to see the change of tide bite happen. Guess we will have to wait for the next trip. Roy R won the pool with a 4.3 pound fluke. Sailing Thursday 7/22 5pm to 9Pm and Saturday and Sundayb 4 PM to 9 PM Next Monday 7/26 and 7/28 7AM Open Boat.
7/18 Am Laurence Harbor Fire Department was aboard for their annual fishing trip. Fishing was good close to home but the bite was dominated by shorts and an odd keeper. We made a few drifts and I was wondering why we didn't just stay where we were, but we did find a spot and landed a number of keepers late in the day. Big Wally had his Limit, Marc Messina from Keyport followed with a pair that included the pool winner 5.8 lbs.
Sinday Night - We should of stayed tied up at the dock.
Monday morning we found great short life again on the same drifts as Sunday. We poked around and found a few keeps for thew day.
Roy boxed up a limit and the pool fish, Cathy Melillio landed dinner for husband Mike as he was busy putting a whopping on the shorts.
